Greensboro/Winston Salem HOA and Condominium Management Company...

Association Management Group (AMG) will sponsor the PTI 5 and 10k Runway Races June 6, 2015.

Paul Mengert, President of Association Management Group (AMG), announced Thursday that the company will be a sponsor of the PTI Run on the Runway 5K/10k, to be held on June 6, 2015 on the airport's 9,000 foot runway. This certified run will benefit The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Greensboro Urban Ministry and Open Door Ministries. All are invited to come out to run/walk the runway. The 5K/10k on the runway provides a smooth and flat surface. The entire race course will provide a close up view of the airport and surrounding area from the airfield. The course is wheelchair accessible and baby stroller friendly. Given the secure location of this run and for safety reasons, bikes, roller blades and inline skates will not be allowed. Dogs and other pets are strictly prohibited.

Mengert, also a Commercial Pilot, PTI Airport Director and Treasurer said in a written statement, "AMG understands the need to support local charities like The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Greensboro Urban Ministry and Open Door Ministries. It is sad that there are families without ample food in the Triad and this is a way we can help…"

Mengert noted AMG has assisted Greensboro Urban Ministry over the last several years.

More about the race… Last year the Greensboro News and Record reported, "If you think you've found a flat course for a fast race at the PTI 5K/10K On the Runway, you're close. To any runner, Piedmont Triad International Airport should be considered a flat course for the two races Saturday morning. After all, the runway is hill-free. In reality, and perhaps not intuitively, there's an ever-so-slight elevation gain from the course's starting line to the turnaround point on the 9,000-foot runway. The construction allowed for drainage and helped hold down costs, PTI executive director Kevin Baker wrote by email. On the 23R end of the runway, the elevation is 855.6 feet, according to PTI marketing manager Stephanie Freeman. At the turnaround, at which 5K runners will circle and return and 10K runners will continue onto the adjacent taxiway, the elevation is 920.9 feet. That's not much gain spread over that distance, although if you're keeping score, it's 65 feet. But make no mistake, it's a fast course." (June 4, 2014).
